VALORANT FPS Boost Guide, Performance & Stuttering Fix

How to Boost Fps and Increase Performance in VALORANT - In this guide, we’re going to focus on Valorant performance and list the steps that you can follow to fix stuttering, freezing and fps drop problems .

Can I run VALORANT?

First things first. Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements required for Valorant.

1) Best Graphics Settings for Performance

You can improve your performance on Valorant account by simply tweaking graphics settings. I recommend those with low-end desktop or laptop PC to apply High Performance settings below.

Playing the game in full-screen mode is crucial for performance. So you need to set the Display Mode to Fullscreen. However, don't forget to disable Windows 10 full screen settings that I will talk about in this step.

Depending on GPU and CPU, just putting the Anti-Aliasing to None will give you smoother movement in Valorant. You need to test that option.

Whether "Improve Clarity" turned on or off did not change my FPS, but some players reported that it caused a lot of frame drops. So you should set the Improve Clarity to Off.

Go to in-game graphics settings and apply the settings as follows.

2) Update Your Drivers

Ensure your GPU drivers are up to date. Low fps issues in Valorant can be resolved by using the updated driver. You can find the latest graphics card drivers using the links below:

Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-software
Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics

Also, updating the operating system is one of the small things that increase performance. You should check the new Windows updates.

Unsure how to update your Windows 10?
Just navigate to: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates

3) Disable Fullscreen Optimizations

Counterintuitively, full-screen optimizations of Windows 10 may cause performance issues for some reason in VALORANT. So you need to disable full-screen optimizations for the VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe application.

Where is the Valorant installation folder?
"VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe" app is located in Win64 folder.
...\Riot Games\VALORANT\live\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\

Also, you should override high DPI scaling. If you have no idea how to do these, you should follow the steps in this guide.

4) Windows 10 Graphics Settings

  • Enter graphics settings into Windows' search, then select Open once the results populate.
  • Click the Browse button under "Graphics performance preference" in the window that appears.
  • Select the VALORANT.exe, then click Add.
    (C:\Riot Games\VALORANT\live\VALORANT.exe)
  • After that click on the Options button under "BootstrapPackagedGame".
  • A new window will pop up, select the High performance in the Graphics preference page.
Note to Laptop Users: Make sure the settings are applied for your primary GPU!
  • Also, follow the same steps for the VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe
    ( C:\Riot Games\VALORANT\live\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe )

5) Game Mode

You need to remove the Windows game mode on your PC. The game mode is causing a lot of performance issues such as fps drop, and stuttering in Valorant. How to disable game mode

6) High CPU Usage Fix

If you are experiencing high CPU usage or stuttering while playing Valorant, you can limit your processor with the "Process Lasso" application. I published a detailed guide on the use of the app, here.

Note: You will apply the limitation for VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe

7) Additional Tweaks

If you want to get more FPS in Valorant, I recommend you check my PC performance guide I prepared earlier. In particular, those who do not have enough RAM and have a memory leak issue should follow this part.

How to Reduce Ping and Fix Lag

It is possible to fix your high ping problem in Valorant with the help of a simple VPN-like application that I will explain how to use below.

  • Go to the ExitLag page
  • Click on the “FREE 3 DAYS TRIAL” button.
  • Create an account and verify your email account.
  • Download and install the ExitLag app.
  • After logging into the Exitlag application, select VALORANT in the list.
