Dirt 5 wont launch crash fix

What do you do when Dirt 5 isn't working properly?

Make sure you follow all the steps of fixes in this guide.

Method #1

Third-party applications running in the background on PC (MSI Afterburner, RTSS Rivatuner Statistics Server etc.) can interfere with Dirt 5. So you should try to run the game by closing the applications running in the background.

Method #2

Verify the file integrity of the game on Steam.

  • Go to your library list on Steam
  • Right-click on Dirt 5
  • Select Properties
  • Go to the Local Files tab.
  • Click the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button
  • After the file verification and download is complete, restart Steam.

Method #3

Outdated graphics drivers can cause some technical issues in Dirt 5. You can download the latest GPU drivers from the links below.

Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-software

Tip: I recommend you to install a clean gpu driver using DDU.

Method #4

Make sure your wheel or USB/wireless controller's drivers are up to date. Especially, steering wheels & pedals may need latest drivers.

Just for testing, unplug all external USB devices before launching Dirt 5. Some USB devices may cause the game not to start, you can temporarily play Dirt 5 without using that USB device until a fix patch is released.
