Command & Conquer Remastered Collection not working is an issue that some players have been experiencing since the game came out. If you have a problem with playing a game Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, there are a few things you can do. Here is how to fix this problem.
Method #1
An incomplete installation is likely to produce crashes or other issues on Command & Conquer. Make sure that your game files are not corrupt or missing. You can check it as follows:
Steam:
- Go to the Steam library
- Right-click on Command & Conquer Remastered Collection
- Select Properties.
- Go to the LOCAL FILES tab
- Press the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button.
Origin:
- Go to My Game Library
- Right-click on C&C Remastered Collection
- Select Repair
Method #2
Please ensure the appropriate Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions are in place for Command & Conquer. As far as I can see, especially Avast is one of the antivirus software that prevents the game from opening.
You should also check other applications running in the background. Examples include MSI Afterburner, RTSS Rivatuner Statistics Server.
Method #3
You should make sure that Redistributable Packages are installed on your Windows.
Go to the official Microsoft page and download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package and Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328
Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
Download and install both x86 and x64. Reinstall even if they are already installed.
Method #4
- Run the Steam and go to the Steam library
- Right-click on Command & Conquer Remastered
- Select Properties
- On the General tab, click on Set Launch Options button.
- Type NOSPLASHPRELOAD into the box.
- Click OK
- Now play the game.

I am a win11 pro user
I too had this issue and none of the suggestions worked. I then noticed in the taskbar another window was running for EA App when i hovered my mouse over the EA App in the taskbar. I was able to open it by clicking on it and it was the "provide permissions" I clicked yes and the game launched.
The window does not make itself apparent and should not be coded to be minimized or behind the EA app window. This is obviously poorly written code on behalf of the developer.
The window needs to be apparent and set to be "on top" and or just automatically go into the game.
the 4 th method working. thanks
Glad to hear that it is worked for you!
