FIFA 20 Won't Launch, Black Screen Issue

Some FIFA 20 PC players have reported launching issues. They click on the play button but game does not start. Similarly, game of some players crashes on startup, immediately after black screen displayed. If you have the same issues follow these steps.

Method #1

  • Go to Documents > FIFA 20 > fifasetup.ini
  • Open the fifasetup.ini file
  • Change the DIRECTX_SELECT = 0 to DIRECTX_SELECT = 1
  • Also, change the FULLSCREEN = 1 to FULLSCREEN = 0
  • Save the file.
  • Try to launching the game.

Method #2

You should add exceptions to FIFA20.exe and Origin.exe in the Firewall.

  • As an alternative, you can disable the Windows Defender. Click on the Windows Start logo in the bottom left
  • Go to the Settings
  • Click on the "Update & Security"
  • Click on the Windows Security
  • Click on the "Virus & threat protection"
  • Then click on the "Virus & threat protection settings"
  • Set the "Real-time protection" to Off
  • Try to launch the game. If that doesn't work, reactivate the protection.

Also, I found this solution on EA ANSWERS HQ, check it out.

1- go to Windows Security
2- then virus and threat
3- scroll down to " Ransomware protection" and click manage ransomware protection (or click directly on the title)
4- Then Activate/enable "Control folder access
5- Then click "Allow an app through Controlled folder access"
6- Search for your FIFA20.exe

At this point fifa is still not working so now just DISABLE "Control folder access" !
